Summer Guests

We had surprise visitors in our backyard this morning. Momma deer and baby fawn! Isn't it cute how the fawn is peeking from behind the tree?

The mother was staring right at at the camera, not seemingly afraid and kind of curious, don't you think? The little fawn was exploring the surroundings.

Here is one more picture as they start to wander away. Well, this was a fun encounter!

And just a couple of summer flowers. I love this pink bloom with the red barn in the background.

And my favorites--sunflowers! These are from our local farmer's market, which we go to on Saturdays. I hope you enjoyed meeting some of our friends and neighbors! Have a great weekend! xx

Summer and the City

It's been hot the last couple of weeks with temperatures in the 80's and 90's. But that didn't stop me from walking around the city. I visited Rockefeller Center where the Christmas tree is lit up at Holiday time, and it's just as nice in the summer. Here is the iconic Rockefeller Center skyscraper. So tall!

Right in front of the skyscraper, there was a podium, and this colorful mural caught my eye.

There are are fountains in the same area, refreshing on a hot day! This fountain featured a dragonfly sculpture, so pretty.

Right across the street, here is Saint Patrick's Cathedral, so unique and beautiful with its Gothic architecture juxtaposed to the modern skyscrapers.

Walking down Fifth Avenue, there are many tourists and shops at every corner.

Here is a gift shop full of New York City memorabilia which tourists love to browse. I hope you enjoyed this little stroll in the city and have a fun rest of summer wherever you are! xx

Nothing says summer like being by the water. Cool breezes. Blue skies. Bursts of color.

I'm sharing a few pictures of a recent summer outing. I love the boats and the skyscrapers in the background.

Here is a close-up of the boats and rock formations on the beach. I do like those reflections on the water.

I love seafood in the summer though I haven't really gone fishing! But I liked this view.

I spotted a few geese on the water!

And of course, I had to share a couple of flowers blooming in my yard. Here is a red geranium which loves the summer sun.

And here is a bloom on a hosta which actually loves the shade but I captured it as it was sunlit. I hope you enjoyed my summer photos and thank you for stopping by! See you soon. xx

Times Square and Flowers

Dear friends, I hope everyone is having a great summer! It's been hot and humid here but we're also getting a lot of rain. Last week, I was riding in a taxi cab in New York City and went through Times Square! I took a picture from the cab, and it just so happened that one of the many billboards displayed an Independence Day greeting. It sure does get busy around here--look at that crowd!

Meanwhile, in nature, bees have been busy as well! I captured this bee on a pink coneflower.

Here is a lovely white daisy.

In my backyard, orange tiger lilies have finally bloomed.

A yellow rose symbolizing friendship!

Blue hydrangea.

A bouquet of violets.

Yellow and blue hydrangea.

Pretty in pink!

I hope you enjoyed a little stroll in the city and in nature! Have a Happy Fourth of July for those of you in the USA! And thank you to everyone who continues to follow and view my posts! xx

The Beauty of Nature in Spring

Good morning, dear friends and Happy Sunday to all. I thought I would share some recent pictures prompted by last night's sunset in our back yard. The trees look like they are lit up!

Here is a fun picture of the woods and rocks in our side yard. Can you spot the little chipmunk? Where is he hiding?

This is our rhododendron in full bloom.

Here is a close-up. I do love that bright color!

I have been taking long walks to get some fresh air and exercise. This is a pond in a nearby area and I like the reflections.

Here is the same pond. You can see the house reflected in the water.

Back home, I just wanted to show you a picture of what the tiger lilies look like when they are in full bloom. It's been a cold and rainy Spring so far, but this week we'll finally get some warm weather and more flowers will come up. Enjoy the rest of Spring. See you in Summer! xx

Dear readers and friends, I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring! I'm away for the weekend so I'm just posting a few pictures I took with my phone's camera. Here are some colorful tulips in front of a store's window in town. They are some of my favorite Spring flowers!

Daffodils are blooming near the train station in town where I commute to work.

Here is a close-up of a yellow one.

And one with white petals. I just learned this variety is called butter and eggs!

Dogwood trees are blooming and so is the forsythia, lining up the street where I live.

In the woods, the trees are not fully leafed out yet but forsythia is blooming there as well.

I have a dogwood in my front yard, too!

In my back yard, these yellow blooms are sprouting from holly leaves.

I also wanted to share a couple of fun pictures from Easter. I colored eggs!

The Easter bunny was all dressed up for the occasion!

And finally here is a picture of the crescent moon I took just last night. I hope you have enjoyed these point and shoot pictures. Have a beautiful rest of Spring and I'll see you soon! xx

Winter Wonders

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last blogged, but I just wanted to share my latest photos. We're having a mild winter in the countryside of New York. We didn't get much snow, except for one major blizzard. But otherwise, it hasn't been that cold and the sunsets have been dramatic and colorful.

Here is a closeup of another sunset in the woods. The spectrum of colors from gold to pink to purple to blue is so pretty. Winter sunsets can be truly soothing, if you take the time to watch them..

Just a light dusting of snow here in the woods and amidst rocks.

Here is a wider shot. It does look very peaceful.

Despite the cold, these little plants on my windowsill decided to bloom unexpectedly. They are the only flowers I have seen so far, but they surely bring the promise of Spring. I will see you all again soon with pictures of the next wonderful season. Meanwhile, stay warm! Have a great weekend! xo
