June Wedding

Diary Entry of a Young Girl

When I grow up, I want to get married in my mom's wedding dress. I saw it in her closet today. It is just so beautiful--a white silk gown with sparkling beads. I want to walk down the aisle with my dad by my side. I don't want a big wedding, but I want all my friends and family to be there. And I have to marry that boy who sits next to me in my English class. He is just so cute. I want a June wedding so I can carry a bridal bouquet with white roses from my mom's garden. I want to get married in the same Chapel where she married dad, the one with the red door and those beautiful stained glass windows. I just know it will be a sunny day and I will be so happy. Oh, and I'm going to be a great writer.

dad not by her side

This weekend, I went for a drive and I noticed this beautiful little Church, which inspired my haibun (a combination of prose and haiku). Shared with Poets United for Midweek Motif ~ Diary Stories. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! xx

Opening Up

bud turns into star,
falling from sky in my heart-
a wish will come true

Just a fun little haiku for you today, my friends, and macros of a pink rhododendron. I photographed it in sequence as it opened up from a bud to a star to full bloom beauty. Magic! Nature is amazing, teaching us that when we open our hearts and minds, wonderful things can happen! Have a great weekend! xx

The Power of Words

words
rise
on wings of butterflies

like torrential rain

words
cut & bleed-
deepen the scar
or (((heal))) it

words
etched in stone-
can't take them back
once thrown

inspire & uplift
don't put me down-
emPOWER me

My poem is posted for dVerse where Brian challenges us to think about language and how it can fail us or inspire us. I hope words can always uplift us and not defeat us!

Enjoy a little sightseeing in New York. Take in the scent of magnolia trees. Stop at a fruit stand for fresh strawberries and oranges. Whatever you do, be empowered! xx
