moving on

there is a chill
in the air
as summer ends
like lost love
in September

fading memories
of warm embraces
and kisses
in the morning
light

where have the colors gone?

in black and white
sunrays are still
piercing through
glass hearts
illuminating the soulful

yearning for closure

and closeness again
in a new season
the streets are wide open
step by step
letting go of shadows

moving on

I had fun taking a couple of photos in New York City in black and white. Though it was a bit cold, it was sunny enough that some interesting shadow patterns were cast on the streets. People are always on the go in such a fast-paced city and I tried to capture the movement. This gave me an idea for a poem about moving on.

Lovely photographs that you have posted here of NY. My husband too is in NY these days (for official work), says days are warm but nights are getting colder.

  5. Black and white to enhance those shadows that seem to stretch themselves as autumn comes, and in that stretch we change and see things we never saw when blinded by the sun.

  7. Let go and move on we all must do at many a point, as like the seasons things need change. Nice black and white, hopefully it stays warm in the day light.

  8. After decades of new school yers in September marking ends of new beginnings, I had actually forgotten the stress of the transition. Your poem brought it back! Nice.

It's gotten pretty cold here too. Actually, my husband just told me that we have a frost warning for tonight. :-(
