Sun Kissed

i love the way you catch sunlight
as if you were illuminated from within
you carry this torch inside
its fire never extinguished
in my eyes, you do not falter
your delicate strength
the blush of your cheeks
i will always remember
the times you lifted me up
when the sun was hidden from sight
you gave me life and to this day
you keep on giving
in your eyes, i will always be
that little girl, your child
whose forehead you kissed at night
you carried me into my dreams
and now i am the one to hold
your fragile hand
in my eyes, you will never wither
Mother

My poem and my sunlit tulips are dedicated to my wonderful mom. Wishing everyone a lovely weekend and Happy Mother's Day on Sunday and always! xx

  3. I enjoy the wide net of images in your poem--mother, tulips, earth, sun--who held the narrator and are now held. May these always have the Light of Love even in shadow. Mighty fine poem and pics.

    1. Thank you, Susan! Yes, this could also be a metaphor for Mother Earth, to hold and be held in its light. I love your insightful comment :)

    1. Thank you, Brian! Yes, a bit of role reversal as our parents age. It's as if they become the child we once were. I appreciate your comment :)

  16. This is beautiful, Loredana. Life comes full circle, doesn't it? First they are the ones to hold our hands.....and later we are the ones to hold theirs. Happy Mother's Day to you!
