Lighthouse on the Hudson

I visited today a beautiful lighthouse at Kingsland Point Park, Sleepy Hollow, NY. This cast iron tower was built in 1883. It overlooks the Tappan Zee Bridge on the Hudson River.

I had fun taking photographs in color and black and white!

To my delight, the lighthouse was open. Here is the red and white door leading in.

Inside the entrance, there is a miniature lighthouse!

Here is a collage of the different types of windows inside the lighthouse with river views.

As I was going all the way up, I liked the architectural details of the top of the lighthouse.

Near the top, I found a bell!

Here I was all the way at the top. See the clouds reflected in the window?

On my way back down, I liked the play of light and shadows on the red, spiral staircase.

Outside of the lighthouse, I found a mural!

Here is a view of the Hudson River at dusk.

And here is a more dramatic view of the lighthouse at sunset. Enjoy the tour!

    1. The purple tone was a complete surprise to me. It must have been the sun flare that created that effect. All the photos are straight out of the camera :)
