Purrfect

My piercing eyes,
elusive-
auburn stripes
camouflaged
amidst leaves
Leaping,
always landing
on all fours
I rest my head
on your lap,
in the stillness
of this moment-
my purr, pure
contentment

Today, we're having a bit of fun impersonating a cat! The challenge at Poetry Jam is to write a poem from an animal's point of view. I find cats to be fascinating creatures, so tender--yet, so elusive. I took these photographs of a wild cat hiding behind a bush, looking quite mysterious, and emerging. I'm contributing my photos to Pixel Dust Photo Art, where the topic is minimalism, defined as "any design or style in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect." There are simple elements in my photos--a fence, a bush, a stone wall, and a cat as the main protagonist. I edited them to give them an artsy effect. My poetry tends to be minimalistic, too, usually with short stanzas and carefully chosen few words. Enjoy my photos and poem!
