Haiku by the Lake

under the drawbridge,
whisper a secret in my ear-
unexpected kiss

color me happy-
sunrise to sunset,
head to toes

in the shade of love,
no longer lonely or sunburned-
my heart heals

moonlight reflection
in my eyes; look deeper-
you will see my soul
~ ~ ~
My dear friends, I was away for the long Labor Day weekend to enjoy some time by the water before summer fades away. We had a lovely time by a lake in Connecticut, with pretty boats, a beautiful sunset, lovely flowers, and a little beach.

I am just catching up now with the September Haiku Challenge in which we are inspired to write one haiku a day with a different word as a prompt. Below each of my photos is my haiku in response to the prompts so far: drawbridge, color, loneliness, moon.

Even on my weekend away, I was creatively thinking about the prompts and I took photos that capture the themes: the lake with a little bridge; the sunset over the lake; a close-up shot of a Rose of Sharon; and a drawing in the sand which is reminiscent of a half moon. Enjoy and welcome new followers and friends!
