Hudson River Views

This afternoon, I spent some time in Sleepy Hollow, New York, where you can see beautiful views of the Hudson River. Here is a mural in town, which has a painting of the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson. I love how bright and colorful this is and the words on the mural are so inspirational! Engage. Connect. Trust. Calm Steady Patience.

Here is a view of the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson, featured in the mural. There is a nice stone wall and boardwalk where you can sit and admire the river view.

This is a view from the other side of the stone wall. You can see the hills in the distance, and there are lovely wild flowers along the boardwalk.

Here is a close-up shot of the wild flowers near the water. They look so pretty!

On the other side of the bridge, there is a historic lighthouse, so picturesque.

Here is a view of beautiful condos right by the water with a great river view!

This condo is even closer to the water. I love the colorful flower containers all along the sidewalk. I'm sharing my photographs with Friday My Town Shoot Out! where this week's topic is "bright and colorful"; The View From Right Here; and Rambling Woods.

And here is a close-up shot of the mural. Have a bright and colorful weekend!

  1. First time I have seen photos from this area. I can not count the number of times I have crossed the Tappan Zee. Nice to see photos other than the bridge. Nice shots too.

  10. I have been in that area one time. I remember how beautiful it was. I took a lot of photos then but it was before I really was "into" photography.

  12. Lovely series of shots, such a beautiful area. At first I thought it was of Astoria OR, there is a bridge that look identical to this one that crosses the mouth of the Columbia River connecting the coasts of OR & WA... Thank you for sharing on Weekly Top Shot #39!

  13. I never knew there really was a place called Sleepy Hollow on the Hudson River, and I love the sound of the name Tappan Zee Bridge. :)

The colours on the mural are indeed colourful.

    1. Thank you, Barb. Oh yes, it's a real name based on the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a short story by author Washington Irving. :)

  18. Lovely photos and it's fun to see that area which I have not visited. I do remember the Sleepy Hollow story. Didn't know it was a real place--or maybe the place name came after the story.

    1. Thanks for visiting this post, too, Peggy. Yes, the place name came after the story. It was originally called Tarrytown, then the northern part was renamed Sleepy Hollow in 1996. :)
