Sunset on the Lake

Tonight, I'd like to introduce you to a river town, Tarrytown, New York, which is only 10 miles away from my hometown of Pleasantville and about 25 miles from New York City. Tarrytown is on the Eastern Bank of the Hudson River, and is the historic hometown of author Washington Irving. It's a very vibrant and beautiful river town so close to us to enjoy. My husband and I went for a romantic walk along the Tarrytown lake tonight, and I took several pictures of the sunset on the lake. A beautiful evening with great views.

It just so happens that two of my favorite sites have a perfect theme for my photograph. The inspiring topic this week at a creative site, Friday My Town Shoot Out! at   http://mytownshootout.blogspot.com/ is "silhouetted." I captured the shrubs, the side of a small building on the left, as well as the trees in the background silhouetted against the bright light of the sunset. Also, another inspiring topic at an equally creative site, Pixel Dust Photo Art at http://www.pixeldustphotoart.com/ is "horizon." And there it is, the horizon on  the Tarrytown lake. I'm contributing my photo to these two wonderful sites.

Enjoy the photo and may all your sunsets be beautiful in your part of the world!

Buon fine settimana!

  8. I think the idea of the romantic walk along the river appeals to me more than taking a photo of the river. Now I must be lying cause this is just my thing. Camillo and I were scheduled to go through Tarrytown last Sept. but by the time we drove into the area Camillo wasn't feeling well and we turned around and headed by freeway to Michigan.... will have to try the trip again.

    1. Hi Ginger, yes, do stop by Tarrytown next time. They have totally redone the park by the Hudson River. Even the Tappan Zee Bridge crossing over the river is being restored. Thanks for the visit :)

  14. This is very beautiful, love the idea of taking a romantic walk with someone! I have been to New York but didn't go to this place, maybe next time! And I saw a sunset in London the other day, it was beautiful with reds and blues mixing together. :)

    1. Thank you, Dawn. This photo is straight out of the camera. I'm not sure how it got the pink/purple glow. Maybe it was just the way the sun was setting reflecting over the water :)
