Lake Reflections

sunshine by the lake--
tree reflections on water;
a joyful moment

a joyful moment--
aboard yellow and blue boats;
sunlit horizon

sunlit horizon--
togetherness with nature;
a serene journey

~ ~ ~

We spent a lovely afternoon by a lake in Tarrytown, New York. This is the same lake where I took a sunset picture (http://loredana-donovan.blogspot.com/2012/05/sunset-on-lake.html). It's just as beautiful on a sunny day!

I wrote a set of three haiku to go with each photograph I took today. I'm contributing my haiku to the very creative site, Haiku Heights at http://haiku-heights.blogspot.com/, where today's prompt is "joy." And what a joy it is to spend time by this gorgeous lake!

I love the way the trees are reflected in the water in the first photo. If you look to the left, there is also a reflection of the little building in the water. I'm contributing my photograph to another great site, Weekend Reflections at http://weekendreflection.blogspot.com/.

I also love the colorful kayaks on the grass as well as on the water. In the third photo, I framed the kayak between tree leaves and used the rule of space, where you place the subject with space in front of it to create movement and direction. I'm contributing this photo to Weekly Top Shot at the lovely site at http://www.theviewfromrighthere.com/blog/.

Just a few photography tips for you today (reflections, framing, and rule of space). Enjoy my haiku and my pictures. May your life always be a serene journey!

  8. Great tips, Loreda! You went to great lengths to explain which only someone well versed could do. Appreciate the composition of placing the subject 'framed' within the space. It speaks so much for balance. Thanks Ma'am for sharing!

  12. Ciao,Loredana e buon inizio settimana!
Ciao!

    1. Thank you, Karen. I think that little building was open at one time, but we couldn't get in to see what's in there. It makes the scenery more picturesque :)
