Silver Lining

On Cloud Nine.
It rained most of the day, and this picture fits the mood. It's a skyscraper in Pershing Square, NY, and I love the way the clouds are reflected in the building as if it were a mirror. In a dreamy sort of way. It's all about perspective. The silver lining is there ... somewhere ... metaphorically speaking. Actually, if I look closely, the top of the skyscraper does have a silver tone to it ... literally. Did you know that clouds are made up of tiny water drops and ice crystals? I didn't. I just googled it. I've always been more into philosophy than science. All I know is, if the clouds look this pretty, then let it rain.

Keeping Warm

Good boy!
I've always been fascinated by a fireplace, the way it relaxes me, the glow, the warmth. The ritual of stacking the logs, one by one, that alone is soothing. Oh, and the crackling ... I could sit here for hours just listening to every little sound, gazing into the fire. My husband got me this cute puppy pillow so I don't have to sit on the floor. It's big enough for two. Comfy. Cozy. It doesn't matter if it's cold outside. I feel safe. I feel loved. I'm not alone.

It's January (Again)

A snowy day in Pleasantville, New York.
Where does time go? It seems only yesterday when another holiday season ended and the promise of a new year began. And here I am--doing it all over again. It's January; it's cold (surprise, surprise); and I have spring fever. But a part of me says, don't rush the season. This year, I want something better than the usual New Year's Resolution that doesn't even last until the end of ..... January. Whatever it is, change is good--I will embrace it. It's going to be a great year!!!
